Landline Battery Backup
Backup power for home phone services.
Power outages can disrupt home telephone services, which might prevent you from receiving assistance in the event of an emergency. To keep your phone service functional when the power is out, we can install a battery backup unit at your residence. This allows corded landline phones to work during a power outage and ensures you can connect to 911 emergency services.
What a battery backup can and can't do.
Our standard battery backup costs $110 (installed) and provides enough power to support a minimum of 8 hours of normal home phone service usage during a power outage. We also offer a 24-hour system for $250 (installed). All our phone battery backup systems work with standard corded phones only and the use of cordless phones or phones that plug into an AC outlet will not function.
It is important to know that the battery back-up will NOT allow you to continue to use the internet, WiFi, or TV in the event of a power outage! In addition to RUC LightSpeed services, home security systems, medical monitoring devices, and other equipment will not run on a phone battery backup unit and may not function during a power outage.
Key items to know about your backup.
• The backup unit only powers your telephone service, and will only work with a corded phone.
• The backup unit will NOT power cordless phones, your internet or your TV service.
• The backup unit will NOT power home-monitoring or medical-alert systems.
• The backup unit will NOT power your homes lighting, furnace, fridge or other devices.
• To preserve phone service during an outage, limit the use to emergency calls only.
• Battery disposal, maintenance and monitoring is the customers responsibility.
• Replacement batteries and installation is the customers responsibility.
• Truck roll and technician fees may apply for installation.
