SIP trunking allows a business to connect as many phones as needed to share common “lines” over the internet. Finally, a SIP trunk requires an IP PBX along with IP Phones to use the service.
VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) has a similar transmission method to SIP, however there are many differences in the setup, hardware and features. With VOIP, you will still need IP-based phones, however this hosted service will not require a new phone system PBX or additional hardware.
